Meet Our Team - Emma Williams

meet our team Jun 21, 2021

I would like to extend a warm welcome to our blog. I’m Emma Williams, Co-Director and consultant at PACT. I am a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst, and have over 20 years of experience working with adults who have learning disabilities or dementia. For many years, I worked as a care support worker, and provided care in a variety of settings. I am also a carer for one of my children who has medical needs.

I have experienced both the good and difficult sides of care provision, and always knew I wanted to improve the services that people receive at their times of need in life. I am very passionate about providing excellent, individualised, evidenced based care to people, and to be able to provide people with bespoke behavioural interventions that are rooted in behaviour science. This gives our clients the best possible standard of care which we can provide.

I became a BCBA in my 30s, after my children were older and I was able to return to studying. I did an MSc (with practicum) in ABA. For the practicum element of the MSc, I accrued 1500 clinical hours (which are required for eligibility to sit an exam to become a BCBA) in different care settings for people with dementia. I worked with a wide variety of clients who had different diagnoses and difficulties. During this time I learned an immense amount about the struggles and realities people who have a diagnosis, and their carers, can face.

I am currently in my final year of studying for a PhD, which explores behaviour analytic approaches in diverse areas. Working, having a family, carer responsibilities, and studying for a PhD has certainly had its challenges, but it is an exhilarating journey!

I am passionate about PACT, and the services we can provide. We are fully committed to providing effective behavioural interventions to help people live well. I look forward to hearing from you, and please get in touch if you have any questions or would like to discuss any aspect of our provision for older adults.
