Announcing the launch of Positive Ageing Consultancy and Training!

Apr 17, 2021

We are so excited to announce the launch of PACT!

In this post, we want to introduce you to our business, why we started, and to give you a feel for the services that we offer.

Who is PACT?

PACT is run by two directors, Dr Zoe Lucock, and Emma Williams. We are both BCBAs (not sure what that is- read more here) and have worked for years with older adults with (and without) dementia in long term care settings. We both have multiple scientific publications based on our work with older adults and most importantly, we love working with older adults and their carers and loved ones.

Why we started PACT

We are incredibly passionate about high quality older adult care, and we know that care providers are trying their hardest to make their clients' lives the best they can.

We also sadly know that the system itself often lets carers down when it comes to support for behavioural issues shown by older adults. Often, we hear from carers that they are either given an ABC chart to fill in but no support on what to do next, given some general 'one size fits all' suggestions, or offered medication to subdue their client or loved one. We know there's a better way than this and that everyone involved deserve positive, effective, compassionate and completely individualised support.

What PACT can offer

What we offer is a one-of-a-kind service- we are the only older adult provider in the UK that provides support from a high qualified board-certified behaviour analyst. We know that every client we see is unique, and that general 'one-size-fits-all' recommendations are often not helpful for everyone. We design our assessments and interventions based on each client's individual behaviour, individual history, individual situation, and individual personality.

Informed by over 60 years of scientific research, we make sure that our interventions are both evidence-based and effective in your situation by taking data to make sure it works, AND we never just leave you with a report and expect you to get on with it! We always spend time actually training you and supporting you in how best to change your client's behaviour so that you are competent and confident.

Our Services

We started PACT for two main reasons:

1. We believe older adult carers deserve effective, individualised and compassionate behavioural support from highly skilled and experienced practitioners, and we hear time and time again that that isn't what they are receiving at the moment. We also wanted to provide training for carers that is skills-based so that learning actually results in positive behaviour change rather than death by powerpoint!

2. Behavioural gerontology is a niche field within behaviour analysis, and we want to ensure more BCBAs and students can access CEUs, training, mentoring and supervision in working with older adults.

We are incredibly excited to launch PACT and we really appreciate your support. We are keen to answer any and all questions you have, so please just get in contact if there's anything you want to know or would like to see us provide.

We can't wait to meet you!

Zoe & Emma
